چکیده

ObjectiveThe identification of potential risk factors for disease severity is great importance in the treatment multiple sclerosis. The influence socioeconomic status on progression sclerosis (MS) sparsely investigated. Our aim was to investigate how adolescence influences later life.MethodsA total 1598 patients with from a well-defined population Norway were included. Detailed information progression, measured by expanded disability scale (EDSS) and score (MSSS), combined data factors. We used residency parental level education at patients’ age 16 exposure second-hand smoking as measure adolescence, adjusting same variables well use modifying treatments prevalence date 01.01.18.ResultsHigh maternal significantly associated less pronounced MSSS (β-coefficient -0.58, p = 0.015), younger lower EDSS onset, shorter time onset diagnosis. No significant associations found paternal MSSS. any before -0.49, p=0.004), while residence, current not.ConclusionThis study population-based, real-world cohort shows that has impact timely diagnosis MS. In addition treatment, also had an life.

Maternal effect in multiple sclerosis.

The genetics of complex diseases is a fascinating but complicated issue. Often, many genes might be involved in a single disorder, each exerting a small effect. To fully understand the pathogenic mechanisms, a comprehensive knowledge of the effect of the individual genes is needed. However, before that, one should try to ascertain how important genes are compared with environmental factors. Suc...

Oral and Laryngeal Diadochokinetic Rate in Multiple Sclerosis: Relationship to Disease Progression

Background: The first purpose of this study was to investigate the rate of oral and laryngeal Diadochokinesis (DDK) in Multiple Sclerosis (MS) patients in comparison with healthy people. The second goal was to determine if DDK rate has any relationship with the disease progression. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, two groups were enroll...

Association of CD24V/V Genotype with Susceptibility and Progression of Multiple Sclerosis in Iranian Population

A single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) in CD24 has been associated with multiple sclerosis (MS) in a population based study. This SNP results in the replacement of alanine (CD24A) by valine (CD24V) at amino acid 57 in the resulting polypeptide chain. In the current study, the genotyping of this SNP and its contribution to MS in 217 patients and 200 healthy individuals of an Iranian population w...

P142: Inflammation or Neurodegeneration: Which one has Remarkable Role in Multiple Sclerosis?

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a complex disease resulting from the occurrence of intermingled episodes of neuroinflammation and degeneration. However, this concept has recently challenged by several observations suggesting that in this disease neurodegeneration might occur independently of inflammation. The evidence that active neurodegeneration in MS is invariably associated with inflammation is p...
